Western Research Company, Inc. is Chosen to Participate in the Pilot Technical Assistance Program
Tucson, Az - October 29, 2004 - Western Research Company, Inc. (Tucson, Az) was chosen by the National Institutes of Health to participate in the NIH sponsored Pilot Technical Assistance Program. This program is aimed at helping companies who have been awarded SBIR Phase I research assistance in identifying markets and strategic alliances for the development of biomedical instrumentation.

NIH has contracted with Foresight Science & Technoloogy, a business-consulting firm that specializes in moving technologies into the marketplace for practical use. Foresight will apply the Technology Niche Analysis™ (TNA™) process to Western's imaging technology for home-based screening for melanoma. The goal of this combined effort is to be able to provide this technology in a simple to use and economical form so that individuals at risk for melanoma can detect suspect lesions at the earliest possible stage. This is critical since there is not a good treatment for advanced melanoma.
